~ PARKS and RECREATION ~

Irwin Park - new play equipment was installed in 2001 through a Keystone Recreation Grant and matching funds from the Borough. This park has a walking track, tennis court, basketball courts, deck hockey court, baseball field and concert amphitheater. The park located off Pennsylvania Ave. & Chestnut St. is open from dawn to dusk.

Irwin Park Amphitheater was constructed in 1985 through a cooperative arrangement with the Architectural Department of Carnegie Mellon University. The students designed and built the building and the Borough covered the cost of the materials. Irwin holds outdoor concerts at the Amphitheater each year featuring local musical groups. Seating is on blankets or lawn chairs and there is never a charge. Collections are taken during the concerts to help cover costs.

Little Knights Kingdom was built through the efforts and donations of the entire Norwin Community. Dedicated in 1994 the wooden structure was designed by Leathers Architects and built on land at the western side of Irwin Park. Crossing the small wooden bridge you climb the gradual path, bringing you into the large play area easily accessible to the handicapped.

Penglyn Field was donated to the Borough by Norwin School District to help serve the recreational needs of Irwin residents. The park is located off Ash Street and features a tennis court, basketball court, baseball fields and play equipment.
